2003-2010 6.0L 6.4L Ford Powerstroke Diesel Oil Filter Replaces FL2016

This is the installation process for the FI-F-7-02: 2003-2010 6.0L 6.4L Ford Powerstroke Diesel Oil Filter Replaces FL2016,provided for your reference during installation.

Step 1:
Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the handbrake, and allow the engine to cool completely. Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the engine oil pan.

Step 2:
Place a suitable drain pan under the drain plug. Use a 19mm socket wrench or other wrench to loosen the drain plug, allowing the engine oil to drain completely.

Step 3:
Locate the oil filter housing located on top of the engine, between the turbocharger and the intake manifold flare. Use a 36mm socket wrench to fully loosen the oil filter housing cap.

Step 4:
Pull the oil filter and filter cap straight up to remove them from the filter housing. Keep the filter assembly vertical during removal to avoid damaging the central plastic riser.

Step 5:
Remove the oil filter from the cap by pulling the two parts outwards; use light to medium force to loosen it.

Step 6:
Use a pick or small screwdriver to remove the old O-ring from the oil filter cap and discard it.

Step 7:
Apply a sufficient amount of clean engine oil to the O-ring on the new oil filter cap, then install it onto the cap. Install the new oil filter onto the cap; note that the oil filter snaps into the cap. The opening (hole) on the filter should face down, away from the cap.

Step 8:
Install the new oil filter, now secured to the cap, by sliding it into the riser tube inside the filter housing. Tighten the cap to 19 ft-lbs (25 Nm); do not overtighten.

Step 9:
Thoroughly clean the oil pan drain plug and check for damaged threads. The original drain plug has a magnetic tip, so be sure to remove all debris from it.

Step 10:
After the engine oil has completely drained, reinstall the oil pan drain plug. Tighten by hand, then use a torque wrench to tighten to 18 ft-lbs. Do not overtighten. Clean any oil residue around the drain plug/gasket seal area to easily spot leaks.

Step 11:
Locate the oil filler cap located on the passenger side rear of the engine. Fill the crankcase with 15 quarts of engine oil through the filler hose; a funnel is recommended to avoid overflow.

Step 12:
Pull out and clean the engine oil dipstick, then reinsert the dipstick tube.Pull out the oil level indicator again to confirm the oil level is correct.

Step 13:
Start the engine and check for leaks around the drain plug and oil filter cap seal area. After a short drive, check for leaks again and confirm the engine oil level is correct once more.
