This high-performance component does not comply with the laws and regulations for highway driving and cannot be used on any vehicle that has been registered or certified for use on highways. This means that the component may only be suitable for racing cars or other off-road vehicles. If it is installed on vehicles driving on the highway, legal issues will be borne by oneself.
This is the installation process for the ER-0303: 2004.5-2005 Chevy GMC Duramax LLY Key Lock SOTF Switch,provided for your reference during installation.
Step 1:
Open the hood and locate the Engine Control Module (ECM) near the battery on the driver's side of the front of the engine compartment.
Step 2:
Locate the hood release rubber gasket on the driver's side firewall. This is a small rubber gasket located approximately 6 inches below the firewall under the hood and approximately 4 inches to the left of the driver's side fender.
Step 3:
Make a small opening in the rubber gasket to allow the wires to pass through. Thread the wires through the opening into the cabin and place them under the dashboard.
Step 4:
Ensure the wires on the engine compartment side are long enough to connect to the Engine Control Module (ECM) harness.
Step 5:
Use the conduit provided with the DSP5 switch to protect the switch wires from high temperatures.
Step 6:
Disconnect the ECM from the ECM connector.
Step 7:
Locate the gray connector on the ECM harness and ensure it is in the open position.
Step 8:
Using a small flathead screwdriver, pry open the two latches on the top black cover.
Step 9:
Locate the pinholes where the switch pins will be inserted, namely pinholes #32 and #50.As shown in the picture below,The top one is pinhole #32, and the bottom one is pinhole #50.
Step 10:
Remove the light green locking pins. After removing the slider, be careful not to pull on the connector.
Step 11:
Remove the light blue pinhole cap currently located in the pinhole where the switch pins will be inserted.
Step 12:
Insert the DSP5 switch pins into the correct holes. Make sure they are fully inserted to the bottom of the ECM harness. Any color can be used.
Step 13:
Reinsert the light green locking pins.
Step 14:
Reattach the black cap to the top of the ECM connector.
Step 15:
Reconnect the ECM connector to the ECM. Connect the gray connector first, then the black connector, and finally the blue connector.
Step 16:
Drill holes and install the switch in the appropriate location. The specific location may vary depending on the truck model and individual operating habits.
Step 17:
After installing the switch, bundle and organize the switch harness and other wiring harnesses under the dashboard.
