!Before installation, confirm that:
This product can only be installed on the driver's side. After installation, periodically check the upper and lower mounting positions to ensure the components are not loosened due to repeated use. If any mounting position is found to be loose, retighten the hardware as needed.
This is the installation process for the TA-C-0008: 2020-2025 Chevy GMC Silverado Sierra 2500 3500 Tailgate Assist Shock Kit,provided for your reference during installation.
Step 1:
Using an M5 Allen wrench and a 10mm wrench, install the blind nut into the opening near the tailgate pivot point. Tighten the nut at least 9 turns. Mark one side of the nut and count the turns to ensure accuracy. After tightening 9 turns, if the blind nut can still move or rotate, continue tightening for 1-2 turns. Recheck the blind nut and repeat the above steps if necessary. Note that overtightening the nut can damage the threads, rendering it unusable. After installation, remove the blind nut installation tools.

Step 2:
Install the bottom ball head mounting plate, inserting the bolt through the hole in the plate into the blind nut. Tighten using an M4 Allen wrench. The torque is 8 ft-lbs.
Step 3:
Using a 13mm wrench, remove the factory bolt securing the tailgate safety tether on the driver's side.
Step 4:
Using the same tools, pass the existing bolt through the smaller mounting plate. The ball head bracket should be at the bottom, as shown in the picture. Install the tailgate safety tether and tighten it completely.
Step 5:
We provide polyester film to prevent parts from sliding on the truck bed and tailgate. Apply the polyester film to the truck bed and tailgate, especially where the tailgate auxiliary components will be close during opening/closing. The arrows in the diagram indicate the installation location for the polyester film. The vehicle shown in the diagram is only an example of polyester film installation. Your vehicle may differ from the one shown in the diagram.
Step 6:
Mount the thicker end of the shock absorber to the upper ball joint mount. Mount the thinner end of the shock absorber to the tailgate ball joint mount.
