Soft Roll-up vs. Hard Tri-Fold: Which one are you actually using?

I’m finally pulling the trigger on a tonneau cover. I want the security of a hard cover, but the convenience of a soft roll-up. For the guys who park outside in the city, is a hard tri-fold worth the extra $500? Does it actually keep thieves away or is it just a plastic "deterrent"?

If you have tools in the back, get the hard fold. A box cutter takes 5 seconds to open a soft cover. I learned that the hard way.

Depends on how often you need the full bed. If you need to haul dirt bikes or furniture every weekend, get a soft roll-up for the speed. If you rarely use the full bed and just need a secure trunk, hard fold all the way. It turns your bed into a giant locked suitcase.
