What is the best way to clean my LMM's carbon-caked intake bridge?

I just hit 130k miles and my 2008 LMM feels like it’s lost its "pep." I pulled the intake bridge and it's absolutely choked with a mix of oily soot from the EGR and PCV. Is there a safe way to clean this without sending chunks of carbon into the valves, or is it time for a full Y-bridge upgrade? Also, WHAT can I do to stop this from happening again—is a PCV reroute enough to keep the intake dry?

If you’ve already gone through the trouble of pulling the factory bridge, honestly, it’s time for a Y-bridge upgrade. The factory LMM bridge is incredibly restrictive even when it's clean. An aftermarket 3-inch high-flow Y-bridge removes that bottleneck entirely. You'll notice better throttle response and lower EGTs almost immediately. Since you're at 130k miles, the factory seals are likely tired anyway. Why spend four hours scrubbing a restrictive OEM part when you can bolt on a performance piece that will never choke out the engine again?
