!Before installation, confirm that:
This high-performance component does not comply with the laws and regulations for highway driving and cannot be used on any vehicle that has been registered or certified for use on highways. This means that the component may only be suitable for racing cars or other off-road vehicles. If it is installed on vehicles driving on the highway, legal issues will be borne by oneself.
This is the installation process for the ER-0085: 1999-2003 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Coolant Filtration System & Filter Kit, for your reference during the installation process.
Step 1:
1.Disconnect Batteries ,Drain coolant.
2.Connect the bracket in the kit to the black filter quick pass through two holes with bolts and tighten with a wrench.
Using 9/16 wrench, assemble mounting plate onto coolant block.
Step 2:
1.Use a 13/16” or cresent wrench to install ¼ turn ball valves to coolant fi ltration block. Do not apply thread seal tape.
2.Install coolant lines to the ball valves. The long hose with the no fi tting on one end goes in the top of the coolant block. Be sure to apply thread sealing tape in the correct direction to the threads.
Step 3:
1.Wet O-ring on filter with coolant and install onto coolant block hand tight.
2.Using 8mm Socket remove the 2 bolts on the driver side radiator support. Place the coolant filter assembly in place and re-install the two bolts snug but not tight.
Step 4:
Make sure the tab on the mounting bracket rests centered on the rubber radiator support and the flter is not hitting other parts. Then tighten the 8mm mounting bolts the rest of the way。
Step 5:
1.Using the provided 5/16” square stud, remove the 3/8” NPT plug on the side of the thermostat housing. Replace it with the provided Brass 3/8” hose barb. Be sure sealant tape is applied to the hose barb threads.
2.Route the long hose down behind the fanbelt and over to the hose barb that was installed.
Step 6:
Using the supplied size 6 hose clamp, connect the longer hose to the brass fitting on the thermostat housing.
Step 7:
Cut the line going into the driver side of the degas bottle (radiator overfl owtank). Using the two remaining size 6 hose clamps secure the brass T-fi tting into the cut ends of hose.
Step 8:
1.RefIll the coolant system to factory specifi cation. Be sure the coolant fi lter valves are in the open position. Note: The valve handle should parallel with the ball valve.
2.Run the engine and check for leaks. After your fi rst drive double check the fi ttings for leaks and refill coolant as needed.
