!Before installation, confirm that:
This product can only be installed on the driver's side. After installation, periodically check the upper and lower mounting positions to ensure the components are not loosened due to repeated use. If any mounting position is found to be loose, retighten the hardware as needed.
This is the installation process for the TA-D-0010: 2003-2008 Dodge Ram 1500 & 2003-2009 Ram 2500 3500 Tailgate Assist Shock Kit,provided for your reference during installation.
Step 1:
Using an M5 hex key and a 10mm wrench, install the threaded rivet (nutsert) into the opening located next to the tailgate pivot point. The threaded rivet requires a minimum of 9 turns to be properly tightened. Please make a mark on the side of the nut and count the rotations to ensure the correct number of turns is achieved. After 9 turns, if the threaded rivet still moves or spins, continue tightening it an additional 1 to 2 turns. Re-inspect the threaded rivet and, if necessary, repeat the above steps. Once installation is complete, remove the threaded rivet installation tool.

Step 2:
Using a 13mm wrench or socket, install the ball stud into the tailgate blind nut. Adhesive may be applied to the ball stud bolt prior to installation; use a 13mm socket to tighten it to 8 ft-lbs of torque. Use a torque wrench to install the ball stud, ensuring the blind nut is fully seated.
Step 3:
Remove the tailgate cable from its bolt. Using a T45 Torx socket or the included wrench, remove the bolt securing the cable. Detach the tailgate cable from the bolt.
Step 4:
Using a 17mm wrench, install the cable/ball stud bracket assembly—along with its washer—into the location where the original bolt was removed in the previous step. (Adhesive may be applied to the ball stud bracket bolt prior to installation.) Attach the tailgate cable to the cable/ball stud bracket.
Step 5:
Using a hammer and a punch, flatten the stopper tab or remove the washer. This ensures that the cable can move freely—without binding—when closing the tailgate.
Step 6:
Measure 3 1/2 inches downward from the top of the cable. This marks the starting installation position for the cable clip. Use pliers to press and secure the clip onto the cable.
Step 7:
We have provided a polyester film to prevent components from sliding against the truck bed and tailgate. Please apply the polyester film to the truck bed and tailgate, particularly in areas where the tailgate's auxiliary components come into close proximity during the opening and closing process. The arrows in the diagram indicate the designated installation locations for the polyester film. The vehicle depicted in the diagram serves solely as an illustration of the polyester film installation; your specific vehicle may differ from the one shown.
Step 8:
Attach the thicker end of the shock absorber to the upper ball stud mount. Attach the thinner end of the shock absorber to the tailgate ball stud mount.
