The "Silent" Regen: Why your 2019+ Cummins hates your 5-mile commute.

I’ve noticed my 2021 Cummins goes into passive/active regen way more often than my old 4th Gen. The problem is, I often arrive at work just as the truck starts the process. I’m starting to get "DPF Soot Load High" messages because I keep cutting the cycle short. Do you guys actually sit in the driveway and wait for it to finish?

This is a common issue. If you have a short commute, you MUST hit the highway at least once a week. Keep the RPMs above 2000 to let it complete a full cycle.

The emissions logic on the 5th gen is aggressive. If your soot load is stuck above 80%, even if there's no light, trigger a manual regen. Otherwise, you're looking at a dealer visit.
