!Before installation, confirm that:
This product can only be installed on the driver's side. After installation, periodically check the upper and lower mounting positions to ensure the components are not loosened due to repeated use. If any mounting position is found to be loose, retighten the hardware as needed.
This is the installation process for the TA-F-0004: 1997-2003 Ford F150 & 1999-2016 F250 F350 Tailgate Assist Shock Kit,provided for your reference during installation.
Step 1:
Using an M6 Allen wrench and a 13mm wrench, install the blind nut into the opening near the tailgate pivot point. Tighten the nut at least 9 turns. Mark one side of the nut and count the turns to ensure accuracy. After tightening 9 turns, if the blind nut can still move or rotate, continue tightening for 1-2 turns. Recheck the blind nut and repeat the above steps if necessary. Note that overtightening the nut can damage the threads, rendering it unusable.

Step 2:
Apply the provided glue to the ball end nut threads.Using a 16mm wrench/socket, install the ball end into the tailgate blind nut. Tighten it to 12 ft-lbs torque using a 16mm socket. Use a torque wrench to install the ball end, ensuring the blind nut is fully installed.
Step 3:
Use an 8mm wrench/socket to remove the two bolts securing the taillight. The taillight is still held in place by two clips. Pull the taillight towards the rear of the vehicle to remove it. Inside the taillight opening, use an 11mm socket to remove the two nuts securing the rubber block. After removing the rubber block, reinstall the taillight.
Step 4:
Using the provided wrench, remove the original vehicle cable bolt. Remove the tailgate cable from the bolt. Use a torque wrench to install the ball end bracket, ensuring it is securely installed.
Step 5:
We provide polyester film to prevent parts from sliding on the truck bed and tailgate. Apply the polyester film to the truck bed and tailgate, especially where the tailgate auxiliary components will be close during opening/closing. The arrows in the diagram indicate where to install the polyester film. The vehicle shown in the diagram is only an example of polyester film installation. Your vehicle may differ from the one shown in the diagram.
Step 6:
Reattach the cable to the cable bolts and install the thicker end of the shock absorber onto the upper ball joint mount. Install the thinner end of the shock absorber onto the tailgate ball joint mount.
