Lift the spring clip and slightly raise the tailgate to detach the connecting cable.
Using a T-25 screwdriver, remove the two bolts securing the taillight assembly. Subsequently, use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the two plastic clips located next to the bolts.
Step 3:
Pull the taillight assembly rearward to detach it from the vehicle body; once removed, place a soft cloth between the taillight and the body panel to protect the surfaces.
With the tailgate in the lowered position, attach the lower end of the damper to the ball stud mount shown below. The lower end of the damper is the end fitted with the rubber dust boot.
With the tailgate in the raised position, attach the upper end of the damper to the upper ball stud mount.
Lift the taillight assembly away from the vehicle body and remove the soft cloth placed between them. Gently press the taillight forward to reinstall it into its original position. Reinstall the plastic clips and the securing bolts. Reconnect the cable.
