The 6.4L Cooling System: Is your radiator a ticking time bomb?

I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about the plastic end-tanks on the 6.4L radiators. I’m starting to see small coolant leaks on the passenger side. Is this a common failure, and is the solution to upgrade to an all-aluminum unit, or just keep a spare set of factory-style hoses?

Check your degas bottle cap; many leaks are caused by a bad cap not venting, causing the system pressure to spike and blow the tank.

Replace the thermostats while you're in there. If a 6.4 overheats, you're looking at a destroyed engine in minutes.
