Stock intake vs. Aftermarket: Is the 6.7 Powerstroke actually "choked" from the factory?

I’ve been looking at intake kits for my 2014 F350. I know the factory intake on the 6.7 is pretty beefy, but I love the look of the aftermarket open-element filters. Has anyone actually seen a drop in EGTs or faster spool-up, or are we just paying for a cooler-looking engine bay and more turbo whistle?

Let's be real: on a stock tune, you won't feel a difference. You only start seeing benefits once you're running a hotter tune and moving more air than the stock box can handle.

The biggest benefit is filter maintenance. Aftermarket dry filters are way easier to clean than the giant paper factory unit.
